Christopher (CJ) McCarren’s journey with Christ the Redeemer has truly come full circle. A longtime member of the parish, CJ served as Youth Minister from 1999 to 2012 and is excited to be back serving the community that helped shape his ministry.
Originally from Pennsylvania Dutch country, CJ’s family moved frequently before settling in Texas during his high school years. He attended Texas A&M University, where he studied Business Administration and was a member of the Corps of Cadets. His path soon led him into parish ministry, and over the past 27 years he has completed extensive formation through the Archdiocese and earned an Associate of Arts degree with a focus on education.
CJ has served in parishes across the Archdiocese, including St. Luke the Evangelist, Our Lady of Lourdes in Hitchcock, and St. Anne near St. Thomas University. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he worked in Tomball Assistance Ministries, helping families in need with food, clothing, and emergency aid.
Ministry has always been a constant in CJ’s life. From his early days as a volunteer at CtR to now working alongside families whose children he once ministered to, CJ has witnessed the faith passed down through generations. He’s had the unique experience of serving under four of CtR’s five pastors—Fr. Dominic Peluse, Fr. Leonard Elder, Fr. Sean Horrigan, and now Fr. Mark Hebert.
Now back at CtR, CJ looks forward to reconnecting with the parish and continuing to share the faith, lessons, and experiences that have guided his journey.
